Barrow Market is located in the heart of Barrow Town Centre.  The original covered Market was built in 1864 for the Furness Railway Company and bought by Barrow Borough Council in 1874.  Barrow Market hall has proudly stood the test of time for over 150 years.  Barrow-in-Furness is a chartered market town and to this day continues the long tradition of welcoming shoppers from Barrow and beyond.

Stallholders at Barrow Market Hall are happy to offer specialist advice and take great delight in discussing their products.  The also enjoy having a friendly chat with their customers.  Many stallholders have a wealth of experience and have been producing / selling fine local food for many years.  Cumbria specialist foods on offer include: Sillfield Wild Boar Produce, Cumbrian Lamb, Pork, Beef, Gammon, Bacon and Sausages, Free Range Farm Eggs, Cumberland Smokies and Local Burgers.

Tuk's Thai foods, featured on the Hairy Bikers Christmas Special in 2011, offers that special exotic touch and sells a wide variety of Thai food.  Tuk is happy to give advice on some fabulous, low cost, healthy vegetarian recipes for the whole family to enjoy.

Setting Up a Business in Barrow Market Hall

Barrow Market Hall welcomes new businesses and offers a fabulous six week incentive package for all new traders.  We like to keep things simple and it's never been easier to start up a business in Barrow Market Hall.  The market is always happy to hear from anyone who wants to set up their own business, whether you are an experienced trader or a complete novice.

A single stall can be rented for just £42.77 (plus VAT) per week.  There are usually a small number of stalls, of varying sizes, to suit your requirements.  Please call the Market Office on 01229876555 or email markets@barrowbc.gov.uk for further details.  Barrow Market Hall works in partnership with Thebestof Barrow and Furness and professional marketing ambassadors for the local area.

Outdoor Market

Adjacent to Portland Walk, with its major high street names, is the market square, where the Barrow outdoor market is situated.  Hot food stalls are now allowed on the outdoor market subject to having the necessary food hygiene certifications.  The outdoor market has regular casual traders who sell ladies and gents quality clothing, outdoor wear, shoes & boots, pet accessories, fresh fish, takeaway hot drinks and freshly made doughnuts.

The outdoor market is operated by Barrow Borough Council and is open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am - 5pm.

Outdoor Rents

A standard 10x10 stall is £11 per day.

An outdoor stall on a non market day (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday) is £5.50 per day

All outdoor stalls are on a first come, first served basis.
