Merchant Navy Day Memorial Service

 MERCHANT NAVY DAY MEMORIAL SERVICE - FRIDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER, 2017

The Mayor of Barrow, Councillor Tony Callister has organised a Memorial Service for those who served and died in the Merchant Navy during periods of conflict.  Ven. Vernon Ross will conduct a short memorial service in the Banqueting Hall at the Town Hall on Friday 1st September, 2017 commencing at 11 am

Tony Callister said 'I extend an open invitation to people to join us on this important occasion.  We should never forget those members of the Merchant Navy who made the ultimate sacrifice, nor those who survived the various conflicts whilst serving their country'.

Merchant Navy Day is 3rd September each year (as this falls on a Sunday, the Service will be conducted on Friday 1st) - the Red Ensign Flag will be flown above the Town Hall as a mark of respect.
