Shopping and visiting Barrow Town Centre.

As befits the largest town in Cumbria, Barrow Town Centre is home to national high street retailers on Dalton Road and Portland Walk including Mark's and Spencer's and Debenhams. There is also a myriad of local independent specialist shops to browse, Café and Coffee shops.

You will find the big names in Portland Walk and along Dalton Road.   

Cavendish Street, Scott Street, Buccleuch Street, Portland Walk Arcade, Crellin Street and Rawlinson Street offer a wide variety of independent retailers offering exceptional value, variety and personal service.  Cavendish Street and Scott Street brim with outlets offering those sought after designer labels and is the place to shop for that special unique gift or must have item for any fashion conscious shopper's wardrobe. 

Barrow town centre is covered by CCTV, has a Radio Link System, Shopmobility Scheme and shops are members of the Safe Child Scheme.

The town centre is flat, easily accessible, well served by car parks and public transport.  Click and collect parking only 40p for 20 minutes.  Park for 4 hours on a long stay car park for only £3 or on a short stay shoppers car park for £3 for 3 hours.

A short stroll from the Town Centre are the retail parks at Cornerhouse Park, Hindpool Park, Cornmill Park and Hollywood Park.  Barrow has a large selection of supermarkets including Tesco Extra, Morrison, ASDA,  Aldi and Marks and Spencer.

Barrow Markets

Barrow has a large indoor market which opens from 9 am - 5 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and an outdoor market which opens on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.  The Market has been featured on the Hairy Bikers' Show and the One Show on the BBC.  Barrow Market has a wide range of stalls and stocks over 100 Cumbrian sourced fine foods including meats from Peter Gott's famous Sillfield Farm and Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.    

 

 

Dining

Barrow has an excellent choice of cafes and tea shops. Restaurants offer international cuisine e.g. Indian, Chinese, Italian as well as traditional Cumbrian Fayre.  Food chains such as Frankie & Benny's, Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonalds can be found on the retail parks.

Shopping and Visiting Dalton Town Centre

 

 

Dalton has a population of around 7,500 and is a small traditional town with many quaint shops strung out along Market Street, town's main thorough fare. There is a mix of traditional public houses, excellent restaurants and locally owned small shops and businesses. Crooklands Garden Centre with its seasonal displays and café restaurant is situated close to the A590 on Ulverston Road.
