Bulky Household Waste Collections

You are in:  Home Page  >   Environment & Waste  >   Rubbish and Waste Disposal  >   Refuse Collection

Special Collections of large household items are normally made weekly on request.

The Special Collections service is subsidised by the Council and covers the collection of bulky items from domestic premises. The service is £10, which covers any number of items so long as the whole collection takes no longer than 10 minutes to load. Time in excess of this will be charged for separately by Biffa.
All collections should be made within 7 working days of the date of the request unless they require an additional charge in which case an estimate will be provided within 3 working days and the waste will be collected within 3 working days of the fee being paid.
Below are examples of approximate fees for a load these fees will vary depending on quantity and the number of items :

Approximately £40                                                                   Approximately £10
Approximate charge £40Approximately £5

Each area will have a specific day for bulky waste collection to find your special collection day click on the link

Items for collection must remain on your own property (not in a back street or on a highway) but must be accessible.  Items will be collected within 8 days of your request, on a specific day for your area. Find out the collection day for your area.

When requesting a collection, you will need to list all items to be collected and where they will be.  Any items not on the list will not be collected.  This is to prevent items being taken in error.  You must provide a contact name and phone number in case a query arises.

This subsidised service is not available for trade properties.

We do not collect rubble, building waste, bricks, concrete, batteries, cans of paint or oil. Asbestos and Plasterboard are designated as special waste materials and arrangements for their collection can be made by contacting one of the companies in Yellow Pages.

Fridges, Freezers and TV's
