Special Collections of large household items are normally made
weekly on request.
The Special Collections service is subsidised by the Council
and covers the collection of bulky items from domestic premises.
The service is £10, which covers any number of
items so long as the whole collection takes no longer than
10 minutes to load. Time in excess of this will be charged
for separately by Biffa.
All collections should be made within 7 working days of
the date of the request unless they require an additional charge in
which case an estimate will be provided within 3 working days and
the waste will be collected within 3 working days of the fee being
paid.
Below are examples of approximate fees for a load these fees will
vary depending on quantity and the number of items :

for your area.

When requesting a collection, you will need to list all items
to be collected and where they will be. Any items not on the
list will not be collected. This is to prevent items being
taken in error. You must provide a contact name and phone
number in case a query arises.
This subsidised service is not available for trade
properties.
We do not collect rubble, building waste, bricks, concrete,
batteries, cans of paint or oil. Asbestos and Plasterboard are
designated as special waste materials and arrangements for their
collection can be made by contacting one of the companies in Yellow
Pages.
Fridges, Freezers and TV's

Special Collections may include Fridges, Freezers and
TV's. For safety reasons, these should have the plug &
cable cut off as close to the body of the appliance as possible,
all shelves and drawers from fridges and freezers should be removed
and the door taped shut.
These items will normally be collected on Fridays.
Sometimes, if demand is high, they may not be collected until
Saturday.
N.B. Other items will not be collected at the same time as a
Fridge, Freezer or TV.
