Location
Barrow is situated in the southern tip of the Furness peninsula,
on the North West Coast of England, only 20 minutes from the
Lake District with outstanding scenery on both road and rail

By Rail
The Furness line, north from Lancashire or south from Carlisle
is a scenic coastal journey which calls at Barrow (and Dalton,
Roose and Askam - dependent on timetable). There are also direct
services from Manchester Airport to Barrow. For more details

By Coach or Bus
There is a daily National Express Coach service to Kendal with
a link via X35 to Barrow. Stagecoach in Cumbria and other Operators
operate a comprehensive bus service between local towns and the

The Traveline Cumbria call centre is based in Whitehaven. It
offers comprehensive information on all bus services in Cumbria as
well as local boat and rail services.
Callers from outside Cumbria will be put through to their own
regional call centre who will be able to transfer them to traveline
Cumbria. Callers from within Cumbria wanting travel information for
other parts of the Country can be automatically transferred by call
centre staff to the appropriate regional call centre.
Callers outside Cumbria wanting information on services in the
County can save time and money by connecting direct to the Cumbria
by typing 874 as soon as they get the introductory recorded message
after ringing the main traveline number. This also applies to those
using mobile phones and BT phonecard plus.
