Charity Collections
The number of family requests for mourners to subscribe to a
collection instead of giving flowers is increasing. If you wish for
a collection to be held at the Crematorium please inform your
funeral director, or inform the Cemetery Office, of your choice of
donation. Baskets are left in the exit hall and any donations must
be collected immediately after the funeral.
Dogs
Please note that dogs are permitted on a leash but dog faeces
must be removed and placed in bins. Our grounds are also included
in the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996. Under this Act we can
prosecute owners who fail to clean up after their dogs.
Grievance Procedure
In the event that you are dissatisfied with our service,
please contct the Cemetery Office as soon as possible. If you
are still not satisfied please speak or write to the
Cemeteries and Crematorium Manager. If you wish to take the
complaint further then this should be in writing to
the Community Services Manager at the Town Hall.
The Council has a formal
complaint procedure where the customer is
dissatisfied with the response from any complaint they may have
made. A copy of how to make the complaint is available at the
Cemetery Office.
Cemetery Grounds
The Cemetery grounds are open every day. The gates at Barrow
and Dalton are open between the hours of 8.00am and 8.30pm from 1st
April to 31st October and between 8.00am and 6.30pm from
1st November to 31st March. To assist the elderly and disabled,
vehicular access is permissible. However we would ask you to
respect any funerals which are in progress and avoid causing an
obstruction.
Registration
All cremations and burials have to be recorded by law.
Traditionally this was in written registers but now all are
recorded on computer and retained forever. We are gradually back
feeding the old registrations onto the computer system, which will
provide a more efficient service.
