The Dog Warden patrols the Borough, covering each ward at
least once a week, dealing with dog fouling matters and stray
dogs.
Stray Dogs
Any dog that is roaming freely on any highway, or any other
places to which the public are entitled or permitted to have
access, and not under the control of any person, whether or not it
has a home, is classed as a STRAY DOG.
In the past 5 years stray dogs have been the cause of several
road accidents in the borough causing injury and damage, and can
cause a fouling
nuisance.
Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 section 149, any
dog found straying will be seized and taken to the Borough Kennels
until claimed.
If possible, the owner will be
informed.
A charge will be required upon
collection of the dog.
List of fees.
If the dog is not claimed within 7 days it then becomes the
property of the Council who then have the power to have the dog
re-homed.
If a member of the public finds a stray dog, they must take it
to either the Borough Kennels or Police.
If you have lost your dog or wish to report a stray dog
