Barrow Port Redevelopment

The aim of the Barrow Port project is to redevelop the area as a high quality living, working and leisure environment connecting the town to its waterfront.  A 300 hectare site covering a significant proportion of Barrow Port and Barrow Island has been earmarked for this opportunity.

 

The initial project was developed through the Barrow Port Masterplan in 2003/4.  The scheme, also known as 'The Waterfront, Barrow-in-Furness' is now being progressed through a formal planning policy document, the Barrow Port Area Action Plan which is due to be formally adopted in July 2010.  This ambitious scheme is being developed in partnership with Cumbria County Council, West Lakes Renaissance, Associated British PortsNorth West Regional Development Agency and the Homes and Communities Agency
