Partnership Working in an Emergency

Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council is working in partnership with all other local authorities in Cumbria to deliver emergency planning services throughout the county.  The emergency planning partnership is about local authorities working together to develop safer and stronger communities throughout Cumbria.
Cumbria’s local authorities have worked together to produce a website called Preparing for Emergencies in Cumbria.  The local authority emergency planning partnership, through this web site and other publications, strives to educate and raise awareness about what you can do to better prepare yourself, your family and your community for an emergency.

As well as general advice on specific emergencies, the Preparing for Emergencies in Cumbria website also informs you about:

  • Preparing for an emergency
  • Coping in an emergency
  • What local authorities are doing
  • What community groups can do
  • What businesses can do.
Information regarding reservoir emergencies and access to outline reservoir flood maps is now available on the Preparing for Emergencies in Cumbria website.
