Personal Profile

My name is Ray Guselli and I was born in London, in 1948. I moved to Barrow in 1965 to re-establish family links with a long generation of Italians, who before 1900, made Barrow their much loved adopted home. I ran a small family business for a while before moving into employment as a Civil Servant in the Job Centre and Inland Revenue. I moved into insurance, working for the then Britannic and finally moved into Local Government where I ran Barrow Council's Community Programme, to help people from all walks of life find and secure employment. From that I set up my own training business, Barrow Employment Training and slowly moved into the provision of accommodation as well; something I still do today as a landlord with 30-40 tenants. I was also a director of Pinnacle Windows, a long established Double Glazing Company from which I retired in June 2009, to allow more time to serve the people of Roosecote who have elected and re-elected me since 1998. In 2008 I was elected as Chair of the Council's most influential Committee, the Executive, a very demanding but interesting role. June 4th saw my election to Cumbria County Council. I anticipate that, coupled to my role as Chair of the Executive Committee, this will enable strong representation at County level. I hope therefore that if you need help with any Borough or County issue related in particular to Roosecote you will contact me to assist. I look forward to being of service.
