Personal Profile

My name is Bill, I am a widower with a Son and a Daughter, five Granddaughters, one Grandson and one Great-grandson. My family is a great joy to me, and my Grandchildren certainly keep me abreast of the hopes and aspirations of their generation. I have retired from business, after some 40 years, running my own plumbing and heating company. Unlike politicians who retire from politics to spend more time with their families, my retirement from business gives me more time to spend on my interest in local politics. I have had the honour of representing Hawcoat Ward on the Borough Council for some 25 years and I am grateful of that opportunity, to serve our community in what I hope has been a useful way. To contribute to the economic regeneration and the quality of life of ones own community is a splendid aspiration and I believe that local politics can provide a fulfilling avenue for such service. For recreation I enjoy travel, motoring, D.I.Y, gardening and cooking for and entertaining family and special friends. Like many retired people, I often wonder how I ever found time to work!
